Heliopic Hotel & Spa ★★★★
AccommodationCentral 4-star with a full Spa NUXE — pool, hammam, sauna and treatment rooms. The in-house Akashon restaurant means you don't need to go far for pre-race dinner. South side of Chamonix town, short walk from the start and finish zone on Place du Triangle de l'Amitié. One of the more complete recovery-focused hotels in Chamonix for runners who want everything under one roof.
Lykke Hôtel & Spa ★★★★
AccommodationThe name means 'happiness' in Danish and the vibe matches. Renovated 4-star with an excellent Cinq Mondes spa: 15m pool, indoor and outdoor jacuzzis, sauna and hammam. Fitness room opens at 7am — good for a gentle pre-race activation session. Central location. Spa access is available to non-guests by booking a treatment or at €50 per hour, worth knowing if you're staying nearby.
Le Morgane ★★★★
AccommodationBoutique 4-star 100m from the Aiguille du Midi cable car, right in the centre of Chamonix. All 56 rooms have a balcony with Mont Blanc or Brévent views. Deep Nature spa with pool, sauna and hammam. Free bike loan at reception. Ideal for runners who want a central location, recovery facilities and a quieter, more intimate atmosphere than the larger hotels.
Chalet Hôtel & Spa Jeu de Paume ★★★★
AccommodationPeaceful eco-chalet in the hamlet of Le Lavancher, 15 minutes from Chamonix centre with a private shuttle available. Excellent recovery spa: heated indoor pool, outdoor jacuzzi with mountain views, sauna and hammam. Far quieter than in-town hotels — if you need real rest before race day, the drive is worth it. Popular with athlete teams doing longer UTMB prep stays, and with supporters wanting space away from the expo crowds.
RockyPop Les Houches
AccommodationBudget-friendly hotel in Les Houches where the UTMB course passes right through town. Colourful rooms, pétanque, table football and arcade games. During UTMB week, chef Samuel runs a dedicated runners' dinner menu at €25 for starter + main or main + dessert. Ask for the guest card at check-in to access free Mont-Blanc Express train throughout the valley — no car needed to reach the expo or the Chamonix start.
Mer de Glace — Montenvers Train
ActivitiesThe Montenvers rack railway climbs from Chamonix centre to 1913m in 20 minutes, arriving at France's largest glacier. A classic rest-day outing that stays easy as long as you take the train both ways — the descent on foot is steep (45 minutes, hard on quads before race day). The viewpoint and ice cave are genuinely spectacular. Avoid the day before your start; the two-way train trip is perfect 2–3 days out.
Centre Sportif Richard Bozon
ActivitiesChamonix's public sports centre with a swimming pool and sauna — also used as the official PTL and MCC bib-collection venue during UTMB week. Outside collection hours, the pool and sauna are open to the public at budget prices, making this the most affordable recovery option in town. Book a lane swim or sauna session for gentle pre-race leg flush without the spa hotel price tag.
Téléphérique de l'Aiguille du Midi
ActivitiesThe cable car to 3842m is one of the most breathtaking trips in the Alps — at the top you are higher than any point on the UTMB course, looking out across Mont Blanc, the Vallée Blanche and on clear days deep into Italy and Switzerland. A must-do rest-day experience. Important: the extreme altitude (3842m) can cause light-headedness and fatigue. Do this trip at least 2 days before your race start, not the day before.
